One lane of the motorway remains closed between junctions 11 and 12, with traffic backing up to the Trafford Centre. Motorists have experienced long delays this evening as police, the fire service and paramedics work at the scene. There were seven casualties in total, with five people requiring hospital treatment. The crash happened on the clockwise carriageway near Eccles at about 5pm, with two people having to be cut from their car by firefighters. Five people were hospitalised after a four car smash on the M60.
